The Jerusalem Sewing Cooperative, a project of the Family of Israel Fund, was created in response to the current economic crisis in Israel. While the Family of Israel Fund was founded as an immediate, "first-aid" response of monetary assistance to families victimized by the Intifada, The Jerusalem Sewing Cooperative is focused on creating long-term financial stability in these and other families. Our members are young women from impoverished families who are talented sewing and clothing designers, yet have limited opportunity to utilize their skills.
The mission of the Jerusalem Sewing Cooperative is to enable underprivileged young women to maximize their abilities in order to earn a living and provide for their families, while creating a cycle of caring and support that bridges various cultures and backgrounds within the family of Israel.
